A radical new approach to helping
relieve lower back pain!
Whatever else you do about treating your back pain, in most cases
you can help by keeping your spine in its natural S
Shape.
Unlike most other belts and supports, the ISS is designed to do
this by gently rotating the pelvis forward in order to use the backs
own subtle biomechanics to encourage the spine to take up this natural
S Shape.
How does it do it?
|
The secret of the ISS lies in the two comfortable foam pads
which gently press on the top edges of the pelvis one on each
side of the spine (known as the iliac crests). This tilts
the pelvis forward and helps preserve the correct spinal curvature
of the lower lumbar joints.

The advantages of the ISS:
- The ISS can be used when standing, sitting or lying.
- As there is no pressure on the spine, the ISS can be used immediately
after surgery or if scoliosis is present.
- Its use increases intra-abdominal pressure but, unlike some
corsets, it does not also have the down-side of weakening the
abdominal muscles.
- The ISS does not restrict movement of the vertebral joints and
so it does not cause stiffness of the back.
- Since it presses on the iliac crests, movement of the sacrum
is unaffected.
- It helps protect the lower back during heavy physical work.
- It can promote an early return to work and normal activities
after back pain.
CAUTION: other considerations when using the ISS
- If splinting of the joints is required, a corset may be more
effective than the ISS
- If you have a spinal fusion, please get medical approval before
using the ISS.
- Spinal stenosis can be accentuated, as extension has the effect
of narrowing the spinal canal.
Available as large, medium or small size the
ISS is approximately 10cm (4") wide at the back and 8cm (3")
at the front and weighs approx. 250gms (9oz)39(w) x 38 x 6 cms &
550gms (15 ½" x 15" x 2 ½" & 19oz)
